AELIAN BRIDGE. - On the reverse of a first brass of Hadrian, without legend, is the type of a structure, which is designated by some as the Aelian Bridge, at Rome, built by that emperor over the Tiber, a structure which still remains, under the name of the Ponte di San Angelo, communicating with the castle of that name; the mausoleum of Hadrian, and one of his many great architectural works. -  "The medallion with the Pons Aelius (observes Mr. Akerman), quoted by early numismatic writers, is a modern fabrication."
